Let the Rain Fall

Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and all that fills it resound—Psalm  96:11

While we are sweltering in the 100+ heat wave small rain clouds bring hope. Hope of much needed rain

Thunder rolls and the sound brings additional hope, rain will soon be here!  Then the first sign of rain comes in the form of tiny droplets that quickly fade from sight against the hot asphalt.  Suddenly with great anticipation tiny drops band together into bigger drops and fall to the ground.  Yea!  It is raining.

Little puddles dance on the streets as the rain continues to fall. The rain is a welcomed sight after weeks of drought.  Even a small green ball has found its way into the streets to dance in the rain.  My heart does its own happy dance in thanksgiving to the Lord for the rain, yet saddened by the diminished sound of thunder and rain softly pelting the windows. Too soon it is over. All too quickly the rain will move on and in just a short time all remnants of it will have faded away.

I think about what brings joy into our lives, simple things like rain, the playfulness of kittens, the giggles of a baby and how all too quickly we allow life to diminish the sounds of happiness all around us.  When the rain began to fall I did not take for granted the wonder of such a sight.  For so long we have not had any rain that I dare not complain.

But, why would I complain anyway?  The heavens and the earth are rejoicing, the sea and all the fills it are resounding the greatness of God.  The rocks will cry out and shout the name of the Lord in endless praise if we do not.

This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.  I will rejoice in the rain and the small victories that life brings.  I will rejoice in good times and hard times for God is faithful.  He heard the cries of His people and sent the rain!!!!
